POSITION TITLE: Match Support Coordinator (PT)

POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISOR: Match Support Supervisor

SCHEDULE: 15-25 hours per week (primarily home based position)

COMPENSATION RATE: $13 per hour


BROAD FUNCTION:  Responsible for providing match support and supervision to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with the agency on the part of participants. Responsible for on-site match support and supervision for 12 site-based Big Brothers Big Sisters social mentoring programs throughout the academic year (Programs run from 12-3 on every other Saturday during the semester)


MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of social work, counseling, psychology, education or related field.
  • Two years of related work experience, preferably with assessments and direct services to children and families . Excellent oral and written communication skills reflecting solid customer service and high-level interviewing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to: form appropriate assessment-based relationships; relate well in multicultural environments; maintain confidentiality throughout daily operations; effectively collaborate within a team environment; problem solving independently, use time effectively; and focus on details.
  • Demonstrated ability to: form and sustain appropriate child, adult volunteer-based relationships based on positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction; effectively assess and execute the following relational support skills: guiding, supporting, confronting, advising and/or negotiating.
  • Demonstrated ability to collect meaningful data and draw solid conclusions.  
  • Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Gmail, Google Drive and Excel.
  • Ability to work flexible, non-traditional business hours, predominantly evenings and weekends.
  • Home space appropriate for performing job functions
  • Must have reliable mode of transportation and use to perform certain job requirements.
  • Must have current and valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicle.
  • Ability to perform office related tasks and utilize required office equipment, including telephone, cell phone, fax machine, copy machine, and computer equipment.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as using a keyboard on computer equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry certain items weighing up to and including 25 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to sit or stand for an extended period of time while performing required duties as assigned
  • Home office required (internet access, phone access and quiet working space where you can take calls)
  • Ability to ride bus transportation while monitoring child behavior


DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATION:

In addition to the minimum job qualifications listed above:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field.
  • One year or more counseling or case management experience.    

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES including but not limited to:

  • Through scheduled in-person, telephone and electronic contact, ascertain that the elements of child safety, match relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction are fulfilled and that potential problems and barriers are identified and addressed as early as possible.  Promptly notify supervisor regarding concerns, which may negatively impact the match.
  • Coordinate match meetings for the 12 scheduled site-based programs throughout the the academic year. This includes collaborating with college-age volunteers, at-risk youth, and their families to ensure that matches are meeting consistently.
  • Monitor child behavior on the bus during the pick-up and drop-off bus routes.
  • Assess individual training and support needs, for each match participant to assure a positive youth development experience for the child, and successful and satisfying experience for the volunteer.
  • Ensure high-level proficiency in applying child safety and risk management knowledge, policies and procedures throughout all aspects of job function.
  • Develop strategic interventions to identify and strengthen match relationships that require extra support to continue to grow.
  • Develop, facilitate, market and present match/volunteer activities/trainings/workshops that offer volunteers and children a variety of opportunities for group interaction and agency affiliation.
  • Utilizing Strength of Relationship and Youth Outcome Surveys to assess match impact on youth development.
  • Conduct exit interview by phone with all parties at match closure.  Assess reasons for match closure and re-match potential.
  • Share with development and/or marketing staff potential partnership relationships as discovered through volunteers’ and parents’ employers and affiliations.
  • Identify and promote re-engagement of volunteers as Bigs, board members, donors and in other volunteer capacities.
  • Provide timely and comprehensive recorded summaries of all contacts/communications and individual participant information is current and accurate in the database.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
